A bit about me. I became interested in psychology when I learned that we can only see the world through our own eyes, and that each of us experiences the world, uniquely, based on the very particular circumstances of our lives. Later, I learned how this core feature of being human can produce suffering, but it is also how we find hope, relief, and even joy. For me, using this understanding to help others navigate the peaks and valleys of the human experience just made sense.
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Louisville. I furthered my clinical training by completing my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship with the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. I am trained primarily in evidence-based care which emphasizes therapies that have scientific backing. If you choose me as your therapist, we will decide together how to apply these proven techniques to your unique experiences.
My style is warm, non-judgmental, and approachable. We will work hard together to develop ways for you to feel better. We’ll find some opportunities to laugh too. I can help with reducing anxiety and depression, improving relationships, coping with trauma, managing addiction, as well as other challenges. Change is possible. You can feel better. There is hope. You have meaning and purpose. You absolutely matter. These are not empty statements. My promise to you is that I will work extremely hard to help guide and support your progress toward the relief and well-being I know you can achieve. If you are interested in working with me or are just curious about what it might be like to work with me, please reach out so we can chat about what you are looking for.
I help people with distressing anxiety, depression, trauma, relational problems, anger, and substance use. I specialize in helping people discover their own motivations for change. Then, we collaboratively develop a treatment plan that honors his/her personal strengths, includes his/her ideas, and emphasizes psychological strategies backed by science.
I take an individualized approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to each person’s unique needs. Using evidence-based methods like Cognitive-Behavioral and Mindfulness-Based Therapy, we collaborate to create a plan that supports healing, fosters growth, and promotes lasting emotional well-being. With CBT, for example, I’ll help you adjust your thinking and behavior to relieve emotional pain.
If you struggle with something, want to understand yourself better, or need help developing coping skills, I offer a supportive environment to do just that. I listen with empathy and without judgment, helping you find your way toward feeling better at a pace that works for you. You can do this alone, but you don’t have to…reach out and let’s get started.
